Re: Character reference for Connor Cairns-Haire
To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to provide a character reference and overall testimony for Connor Cairns-Haire. I have known him since October of 2018, when he became my personal trainer at the GoodLife Fitness Center in Victoria. The gym is located on 1150 Douglas St, Victoria, BC V8W 3M9.
As a personal trainer, Connor has been developing an individualized workout plan that fits my needs as a person with disability. My disability, cerebral palsy (CP) impacts my balance, hand eye coordination, my left side is weaker and, my mobility is affected as a result of the disability. I walk with a cane due to these limitations.
The training sessions are twice a week and last for an hour each. Connor’s ability to adapt the workout in order accommodate my needs speaks to his knowledge and ingenuity. This in turn, allows for me to achieve a satisfaction at the end of the exercise. Connor’s communication skills contribute to the experience as we build towards a common goal. The end goal is to walk independently without a cane for support. He often alters the workout in the effort to continuously improve the overall outcome. As I continue on my journey for independent and self-improvement I look forward to accomplishing these milestones with Connor. In my view Connor has a bright future in helping people with recovery training. However, I have no doubt Connor will be successful in any career that he pursuers in the future.
Feel free to contact me, when you have questions and thank you for your time.

"My weight loss, during the 6-month program, was mainly all fat and I also lost 4 inches from my waist. I dropped two sizes in my clothes and swimsuit!" - Dav M
I started training with Connor in November of 2018.
After doing six sessions of Personal Training (PT) with Connor I was convinced that I would greatly benefit from doing a six-month program with him.
Connor’s knowledge and expertise in the field of PT – including demonstrating isolated muscle function, strength development and functional exercises that would help with daily life greatly impressed me. I was convinced that he was the best PT for me, and I signed up for a twice weekly, six-month program tailored by Connor for my specific needs and goals.
I am writing this testimonial after completing the six-month program. I am thrilled with the results I obtained. I had hit a roadblock in going to the gym and doing cardio exercises on my own over the past several years. Even though I was regularly exercising and doing various sports – I was not getting the results I wanted. However, this all changed once I started training with Connor!
My weight loss, during the 6-month program, was mainly all fat and I also lost 4 inches from my waist. I dropped two sizes in my clothes and swimsuit! My blood work showed that my good cholesterol had gone up and my triglycerides had gone down – known benefits of regular effective exercise. All my friends and family noticed the difference in my appearance and my increased self confidence. I also feel happier, fit and have excellent stamina when I do other sports such as swimming, skiing and soccer.
I am so happy with the care and professionalism with which Connor carried out the training sessions. He is an excellent motivator and was willing to adapt the program as needed so that I would achieve the best results over the 6-month period.
I would highly recommend Connor as a Personal Trainer for anyone who is looking to get excellent results with a motivated trainer who is passionate about his work and is able to help you achieve your goals. Even though my six-month program ended today, Connor told me he will check my gym attendance to make sure I am keeping on with my workouts! That is just the type of motivational person Connor is.
"I have worked with many trainers and physiologists, and I have benefited most from my time under Connor’s guidance." - Brianna Reisman
To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Brianna Reisman, and I have been a Personal Training client of Connor Cairns-Haire for a year and a half.
As someone who has been through a traumatic motor vehicle accident, I was thrilled to find a trainer with such widespread knowledge and infectious enthusiasm. Throughout the years, I have worked with many trainers and physiologists, and I have benefited most from my time under Connor’s guidance. From the beginning, he has motivated me to spend more time on my personal fitness and health, and in return, I have never felt so good in my life!
In fact, despite leaving Victoria, I have sought to continue our training remotely, as losing his direction would be a shame.
I hope you get the chance to witness Connor’s exceptional value as a personal trainer, just as I have.
"Connor is by his nature, and his training, a true healer." - Russell Grabb
Dear friends and colleagues in Victoria,
I don’t normally endorse commercial products or services.
But I have to say for those of you who are thinking about doing a little more to improve your overall health and fitness, or to address a lingering muscle or joint injury, connecting with Connor Cairns-Haire at Goodlife Fitness—as described in his email message below—might just be what you’re looking for.
Rather than embracing the off-putting persona of a traditional personal trainer, Connor is by his nature, and his training, a true healer.
He’s not one of those tiresome fitness coaches—armed with a ballcap, a tethered whistle, and a soiled clipboard—who barks at his clients in order to get them to “feel the burn” and “fight through the pain.”
He begins with a careful assessment of your problem areas, in a manner consistent with an experienced physiotherapist.
He only moves on to helping you build your strength and cardio capacity after he’s helped you create a solid foundation of mobility, flexibility and underlying repair.
He’s a stickler for proper form, balance and technique—so you don’t exacerbate or create new injuries.
If you’re like me, and you simply want sensible advise and relatable fitness programming from a person who actually knows what they’re doing, I would seriously take Connor up on his offer for a free one-hour session.
You’ve nothing to lose.
I get no kickback for saying so.
I say it because it’s true.
"I know that I am getting the greatest value possible without hurting myself." - Douglas Yearwood
To Whom It May Concern:
I am a 69 year old male with a history of heart disease.
I have been working with Connor four days a week for the past four plus months.
My goals are to develop the flexibility, range of motion and strength to move with confidence in a variety of ways and settings. We are approaching this through various means. Primarily we use body weight, bands and free weights to accomplish this. We seldom use machines.
I have full confidence in Connor,s judgment. He checks with me throughout a workout as to how I’m feeling physically. Based on my responses and his assessment of my physical condition in the moment, he makes adjustments to what he has me do. This is invaluable to me as I know that I am getting the greatest value possible without hurting myself.
He is an effective coach. First, he understands what to do in order to improve physical condition. Second, he is able to communicate what I need to do technically in order to do an exercise properly. Next, he can adjust my expectations according to the particular exercise based on my condition in the moment. Throughout my workout, he is encouraging my best effort.
Before starting with Connor, I was in the gym six days a week for up to two and a half hours each session. He gets more out of me in an hour than I could accomplish previously in two and a half hours. My workouts are much more intense now.
Once a month we sit down to check on my progress and discuss what I might do differently. What we are discussing presently is how best to connect my medical condition with his knowledge and understanding of physical fitness. We also recognize the need for another professional to tie together my physical condition with fitness and diet .
A couple of months back, I asked Connor how I was doing. His reply : “I hope I’m as fit as you when I’m 69.” That comment means the world to me.
